How to Play Texas Holdem Poker
Texas Hold’em, the style from which all other forms of poker originate, is when each player is dealt two cards face down -- known as "hole" cards -- and then five cards are dealt face-up in the center of the table. These are known as the community cards.  Each player shares these cards in the centre to make their best five-card hand from the cards they were dealt and the community cards.

The standard number of community cards in a Hold’em game is five. Three cards are placed in the centre of the table after the first betting round (The Flop), a fourth card after the second betting round (The Turn) and a fifth after the third betting round (The River)

Hold’em games start off the game with two blind bets (bets made by players before they even see their cards). These are forced bets to start the betting round.

Before looking at their cards, the player to the left of the dealer throws their small blind bet into the pot and then the player to the left of the small blind throws their big blind bet into the pot. A big blind should be twice as much as the small blind.

The next player in an anti-clockwise position is the first player who is allowed to look at his/ her cards before deciding what kind of bet to place. This player can fold, bet or raise. After the first round of betting, the first three community cards are flipped (the flop).

Another round of betting resumes starting with the player to the dealer’s left.

A fourth card is then dealt face up on the board (the turn)

Another round of betting ensues

The final card is then dealt face up on the board (the river)

A final round of betting then takes place. The remaining players (those who have not folded or thrown their cards in during the hand) show their cards and the person who can make the best 5-card hand from their hole cards and the community cards wins
